Understand the Holy Spirit Gifts of Tongues
Out of all the spiritual gifts, the gift of tongues is the most underestimated. It is a very powerful tool in prayer, spiritual warfare, and worship. As with all spiritual gifts, they are given for the purpose of edifying and building up the Church.
The Church benefits from tongues in two ways…
- As a manifestation of a personal prayer language for its recipient. This serves the purpose of a more intimate relationship with the Lord.
- As a sign of God’s power. In other words, the language is spoken to others—both Believers and unbelievers—as a sign of God’s power and authority at work in the lives of His followers.
There are tongues spoken in private prayer and worship and others spoken in public or with others.
