The Power of Florida’s Calling! An Upcoming Event at Christ Family Church in Port Saint Lucie, Florida
We all know that we, as individuals and as the Body of Christ, have a calling and a purpose. We understand that by aligning ourselves with God’s instruction, timeline, and heart, we are spiritually and physically blessed. God reaches out His sovereign hand and heals our families and our lands.
“…if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”—2 Chronicles 7:14
But what about our communities, states, and nation? Does God have a purpose and calling for those entities as well?
In short, yes! God doesn’t just stop at the borders of our hearts or the walls of our churches. He extends His purposes to “all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues” (see Revelation 7:9).
“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”—Isaiah 55:11
What God has planned for our nation, states, and communities will be done. But how can we get engaged and be a part of what God has planned for our local governments?
How to Claim the Power of Your State’s Calling!
1. Pray for Your Cities
As Believers, you are the gatekeepers of your city. Gatekeepers are referred to in scripture as necessary to a community to keep order. They were positioned around city gates for the people’s protection against invaders, wild beasts, and anything that would put the people’s safety in danger.
Pray for leaders in your community to step up to their trusted office. Pray that God “will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers” (see Malachi 4:6) and align the city to a position of reflecting God’s will in Heaven on the earth.
Praying Scripture
Pray for the gatekeepers to stay alert, wise, and trustworthy.
“All those chosen as gatekeepers were two hundred and twelve. They were recorded by their genealogy, in their villages. David and Samuel the seer had appointed them to their trusted office.”—1 Chronicles 9:22 (emphasis added)
“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.”—Matthew 10:16
2. Pray for Your Leaders
God’s Word commands us to pray for our government and its leaders; this includes our leaders in our communities all the way up to our president. The Body of Christ must realign with biblical truths during these unprecedented times.
We can’t afford to abandon what God has called us to do, because the enemy is waiting for us to walk away from God’s instruction so that he can swoop in and cause chaos in our communities, states, and nation.
The individuals in the Body of Christ have a spiritual mandate. Let’s set our feelings aside and pray as we are instructed to do so.
Praying Scripture
“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.
“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
“I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting…”—1 Timothy 2:1-8
3. Pray for Your Government
The Lord is at work in mighty ways, bringing together with the Jew every nation from different tongues and tribes. As Ephesians says, we are to join together as One New Man. Those grafted into the commonwealth of Israel make the threefold cord strong and unified. It releases His power in the land.
It is evident throughout God’s Word that, as the Body of Christ comes together in unity to fulfill the Great Commission, there will be a mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
We can pray for our government to align with the Lord’s heart and His people.
Praying Scripture
“And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”—Jeremiah 29:13 (emphasis added)
“For thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.’”—Zechariah 2:8 (emphasis added)
