It’s Time to Start Digging for Truth
The long, hot days of summer can make us want to sit back and do nothing. We lose the motivation we once had at the beginning of the season. But the cost of doing nothing is expensive. We have to start digging for truth, even in the hot, dry months, if we want to prosper in the spirit.
What Will It Take to Start Digging for Truth?
It’s been said, “The best way to let the devil have possession of anything is to do nothing.” What is the devil stealing from you?
Imagine if I gave you an envelope with a letter and map inside. The letter told you where I buried $250,000. The letter read, “Start by standing on the south side of the oak tree in my front yard, facing south. Take 5 steps to the west. Start digging. You’ll find the money 12 inches beneath the earth’s surface.”
Would you get up, grab a shovel, and start digging?
As a born-again Believer, it’s time to start digging for truth. Don’t let the devil steal from you any longer.
You Are on a Treasure Hunt
You are on a treasure hunt in the spirit. Solomon compared wisdom to things better than silver, gold, and rubies.
- “Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding; for her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, and her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies…”—Proverbs 3:13-15
The point Solomon wanted to make was that wisdom is for this life, not the next. The treasure God has for you will glorify Him and prosper you. The treasure is wisdom and truth.
It Is Wise to Have a Plan
It is wise to have a plan—to write it down—so you know where you are going. Without a wise plan, you will end up somewhere you didn’t want to go. The only wisdom that will prosper you is God’s.
- “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, ‘He catches the wise in their own craftiness’; and again, ‘The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.’”—1 Corinthians 3:19-20 (emphasis added)
Yeshua warned…
- “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”—Matthew 6:19-21 (emphasis added)
Worldly wisdom and treasures of this world—things in the natural—decay and rust. But when you decide to start digging for truth and wisdom, you are tapping into heavenly treasures that are fully protected and will never be destroyed.
It is essential to use Godly wisdom to develop a plan that changes the course of the natural or worldly direction of your life. The natural direction leads you down a path of destruction. Godly wisdom leads you down a path of peace and life.
The enemy always tries to steer you off course. But when you start digging for truth and have a Godly plan, you are transformed and step into the life God designed for you.
Know. See. Feel.
When you have a plan that aligns with God’s heart and grows you, you will know, see, and feel the need to start digging for truth. Without a plan, you drift away from your dreams.
- Know that everything in the natural world decays, rusts, or is destroyed.
When you start digging for truth and discover the world leads to nothing that lasts, you start living with an eternal perspective. The goals you set begin to align with God’s heart for you and you begin to see manifestations in your life.
- See the plans God has for you.
Jeremiah 29:11 reminds you that God’s plans are for you, not against you. When you commit your goals to Him, He will establish your plans. This changes the trajectory of your life, and you are transformed and receive the life God has for you.
- Feel the urgency to start digging for truth.
Don’t sit and wait for the truth to suddenly appear. Proverbs 25:2 says, “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.” You are a king and a priest. It is time to start digging for the truth. Search out the matter! The things revealed belong to you so that you will follow all His Word and ways.
Dream. Have a Plan. Be Successful.
Success is about being obedient to the will of God. Whatever you do—word or deed—do it all for the glory of God, giving thanks. God, being a giver of dreams, placed a dream in your heart. He wants you to participate with Him in obedience to fulfill the dream. But a dream without a plan is only a wish.
Wishes are passive. Dreaming with God is active. His plan is to grow and prosper you, but your dreams must align with His.
Proverbs 20:18 says, “Plans are established by counsel; by wise counsel wage war.”
Your plans are established and fulfilled when you realize your need for godly counsel. Goals to Grow By will help you to establish that plan. It is time to start digging for truth and wisdom so that the dreams God has for you come to pass.
