Set Your Year to Success | Understanding your Identity through Adoption by the Father
If you have been through the adoption process in any capacity, you understand the insurmountable paperwork there is to complete, signatures to provide, meetings that are held, and appearances in front of the judge in the courts.
It’s no small undertaking. It’s a big deal. It’s a life-altering commitment on all of those involved. It ends with a notary sealing everything in a court of law.
Does the Holy Spirit Seal Us—If so, how?
In biblical times, a seal was a secured guarantee and indicated ownership. The same principle applies today in the spiritual realm in the Courts of Heaven when we are born again.
Therefore, when the Bible says that we are “sealed with a promise of the Holy Spirit,” we can…
- Trust that it is true
- Understand Whom we belong to, our Abba Father
- Know it is a guarantee
“In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.”—Ephesians 1:13-14 (emphasis added)
It’s crucial to remember that the act of sealing is completely dependent on the importance of the One doing the sealing. Because we are sealed by a perfect, pure, and just God… our adoption is complete!
1. Trusting the Word of Truth
Upon receiving the Word of Truth, you then have the knowledge of why and how you can trust the Lord. You understand you’ve been bought at a price (see 1 Corinthians 6:20) and that you belong to the Father.
“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba Father.’”—Romans 8:15
Because of this great exchange that took place on the cross at Calvary, you no longer are in bondage, but are set free (see John 8:36)!
2. Adopted by Abba Father
Stop for a moment and meditate on the great price that was paid for your salvation. Close your eyes and imagine your Savior willingly paying the ransom so that you can have eternal life. The legal papers of adoption were signed with the blood of Christ.
Too many of us enter into Christianity with doubt—or become filled with doubt, fear, or complacency later on—because we still aren’t quite sure we can trust our Mighty Father. Hear this: It isn’t that we haven’t received the inheritance, but it’s that our inheritance has been misshapen because we don’t fully understand the covenant and adoption process.
Your adoption papers were signed in the heavenly books in the Courts of Heaven. They are signed, sealed, and delivered. The devil knows it. He can’t do anything about the end result—because the Word of God promises and declares that the Son has set you free!
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”—Mark 10:45 (emphasis added)
How many times have you read this verse—10 times, maybe 100? Look closely at the word ransom.
Ransom is the practice of holding a prisoner to extort money or property to secure their release. Satan is a legalist. God is just. After the fall of man in the garden, in order to be in the presence of the Righteous Creator and belong to Him, payment must be given.
Satan wants YOU to pay the price, and he wants YOU to think you can. God says, “No… I will pay the price to bring him/her back into My family because My price is the one that is sufficient.”
There is no reason to limp into the courtroom when you are adopted into the family of God—because Jesus paid the price in full so that you are restored to your Father. Your citizenship is now in heaven, and you are sealed with the Holy Spirit!
3. Knowing Your Guarantee
Knowing you are guaranteed to receive an inheritance and knowing what you have is essential to the Christian life.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.”—Ephesians 1:3-6
You are honored with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places and can stand before your Father and Righteous Judge blameless! This isn’t a mindset that magically happens; it’s a supernatural truth that has already happened—you just have to believe, accept, decree, and declare it in the Courts of Heaven!
Set Your Year for Success!
As you enter into this New Year, 2019, don’t hesitantly step into alignment but instead boldly approach the throne of grace with confidence in your identity, purpose, and destiny (see Hebrews 4:16).
Here Are Some Practical Ways to Set Your New Year off with Success in Mind.
Make these daily decrees during your personal devotional time each morning.
Daily Decree for Identity
I am a Holy son/daughter of the King of the Universe. He has made me His King and Priest. He has empowered me by His Holy Spirit to take dominion on Earth as a King, and in Heaven as a Priest. I am the head and not the tail. I am an ambassador empowered to reverse all curses and release blessings in their place.
Daily Decree for Purpose
I will do my work as unto the Lord. I will dedicate my time, tasks, and activities for the equipping discipleship of all nations. My habits and patterns will reflect that of a disciple. I will teach my family and friends to observe all things according to biblical instruction. My purpose is to redeem that which has been lost in His Kingdom. I am a manager over God’s lost and found department on Earth.
Daily Decree for Destiny
Today I will take authority over my destiny by disciplining myself to sow my tithes on time by writing my first check to the Lord as a habit and pattern. I will participate in all the special offerings of the Lord: Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles. I will be obedient to all special offerings, alms, and missions. I will be sensitive to the Holy Spirit to honor the Lord with the first fruits of any increase, and I will honor my teachers with terumah. I will never sow a seed in unforgiveness or offense. I will always repent and sow with joy, as the Lord loves a cheerful giver.
