President Trump to Recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital During 70th Anniversary Year
As we move further into the year 5778/2018, current events are aligning with biblical prophecy. It is no coincidence President Trump has decreed that the United States Embassy be moved to Jerusalem during Israel’s 70th anniversary. Why are these events significant? Is Trump’s presidency a part of God’s plan to restore Israel?
First, it is important to understand the depth and meaning that numbers hold in Hebrew and in the Bible. The number 70 is important in biblical history and here are some ways it is used in reference to Israel’s past.
- Ancient Israel spent 70 years in Babylonian captivity.
- The number 7 symbolizes wholeness or completeness.
- The number 10 symbolizes divine order or a completed cycle.
What does Israel’s 70th anniversary represent?
It has been said that President Trump is a Cyrus. What does this mean? To understand the meaning of this statement in relation to prophecy, we must understand the characteristics of a true Cyrus. We also need to realize the biblical understanding of who God uses to accomplish His will.
Throughout scripture, God uses the small and weak to accomplish His will, but He also uses those in power to restore His people, enabling them to align with His will.
A true Cyrus is directly connected with how he or she interacts with the physical City of Jerusalem and Israel.
“Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying, ‘Thus says Cyrus king of Persia: All the kingdoms of the earth the Lord God of heaven has given me. And He has commanded me to build Him a house at Jerusalem which is in Judah.’”—Ezra 1:1-2
God used a man in power over a nation, Cyrus, to return all that was taken from the Jewish people and restored it to them. This is what Trump is saying he will do in May 2018, marking the 70th anniversary of Israel.
What happens when we don’t align with God’s will?
There is always contemplation in the heart of Believers about what is God’s will. While He is active in each of our lives to a depth we cannot comprehend, He is also active in our nations. He speaks about nations and tribes in His Word.

“All nations whom You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord, and shall glorify Your name.”—Psalm 86:9
Therefore, it should not surprise Believers that God will align nations as well as our individual hearts, starting with first-born Israel.
We cannot be blind to the warning God gives us about being misaligned. Recently celebrating the Jewish holiday of Purim, which commemorates the saving of the Jewish people from Haman who was planning to kill all the Jews, we can learn about what happens when we do not align with God’s plan.
“For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”—Esther 4:14 (emphasis added)
What happens when we align with God’s will?
The Lord is clear throughout His Word that we receive peace when we turn over our mind, will, and emotions to Him.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”—Philippians 4:6-7

What is the Lord’s will during this significant 70th anniversary year in Israel?
God is the God of eternity. He controls time, and when men do not cooperate, time can be delayed… but when there is cooperation, God will fulfill covenant at a mighty rate.
Jeremiah prophesied that Israel would be held in Babylonian captivity for 70 years. God used Cyrus to open the gates and transfer Israel’s wealth back to her. Will this transfer happen again during Israel’s 70th anniversary?
