The dominion mandate is the command that God gave to Adam and all of his descendants—that is, to all humanity—to have dominion and rule over all the animals and the land. Let this soak in for a moment… the Bible is clear that we have dominion over creation. But let’s take a deeper dive and explore:

• What does this means biblically?
• How is dominion obtained?
• How does this relate to the First Nations, the end times, and the land?

Can you count how many times you have read the creation story in Genesis? Most of us have studied and even memorized the order that God created the earth. At the height of the creation story, God says this:

“…Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”—Genesis 1:26

God spoke these words before sin entered the garden, yet He already had a plan laid out beforehand of redemption for mankind and the land—for all of creation. Not only do we need to come into alignment with His order and ways, but the land must also do the same if we want to live abundantly. We have the authority and dominion to operate within this decree, and a call to subdue the earth.

“Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.’”—Genesis 1:28

What does “having dominion” mean biblically?

God creates dominion, and He allows us to be a part of it. Though man often falls short of proper dominion and authority, God does not.

God has full control and authority, and we must not forget that He dwells within us. Even though we have confines because of our sin nature, we still have access to God’s dominion.

To operate within this mandate there must be an awareness of who He is and who He created us to be. Let’s look at some verses that speak to this awareness:

• “What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, and You have crowned him with glory and honor. You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet.”—Psalm 8:4-6

The writer of Hebrews quotes the above verse before further explaining the point.

• “…For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that isnot put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under him. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.”—Hebrews 2:8-9

Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, God has imparted to us, as Believers, dominion. God put all things under subjection to humanity.

How to obtain dominion…

To operate in the power of dominion there is an order to follow. The process involves spiritual warfare and biblical protocol in the Courts of Heaven.

Backing up a moment, first we need to understand that the Word of God is unchanging, and when He speaks there is a fullness of power that is accomplished. Just as He spoke creation into existence, He spoke Words of how to operate in the Courts of Heaven.

• “The Lord who made heaven and earth bless you from Zion!”—Psalm 134:3
• “Many people shall come and say, ‘Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths.’ For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.”—Isaiah 2:3

To enter into His courts and to take dominion of the land, God tells us that we are to align with Him. He shows us how through the Jewish roots of our Christian faith.

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: ‘May they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls, prosperity within your palaces.’”—Psalm 122:6-7

God desires for all nations to come together as a three-stranded cord to restore peace within our lands, homes, and walls.

When we turn away from our soulish ways that are contradicting God’s, He hears our cries and pours out a restorative rain across His earth.

“Then the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him: ‘I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. When I shut up heaven, and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people,  if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.’”—2 Chronicles 7:12-15 (emphasis added)

God is a God of Process…

First, we must humble ourselves. Because of the grace of God, we can boldly approach His throne. But to be heard, there is a call to understand who He is and who we are. We are nothing without Him.

Secondly, pray, seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways. This step of repentance is powerful. Philippians 4:6 says, “…by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”

Thirdly, then He will hear from Heaven. Some will say God hears all of our prayers. While this is true that He does hear our cries for mercy, however, when there is to be alignment between nations, lands, and regions, God takes these actions seriously and wants us to do the same.

Lastly, He will forgive our sin and heal our lands. Even though we are sanctified through the blood of Christ, there can still be chaos in the environment and atmosphere surrounding us. To take dominion, He calls His people to open the doors of Heaven.

Therefore, if we want our lands healed, we must have one of His chosen people, a Jew, to enter in before us.

He wants us to understand that when two or three are gathered in His name, greater power is about to be exercised.

Dominion Mandate and the First Nations…

To have legal power in Courts of Heaven, and for God to heal our land, the natives to the land must also be restored to Him. In North America, this is the First Nations people.

The First Nations and the firstfruit Gentiles are grafted into Israel, not to replace her, but to join as One New Man.

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.”—Psalm 37:23

God orders the steps in this way: Jews first, then First Nations, followed by Gentiles, then enter the courts. This order opens the gates to the land and the surrounding region that leads to restoration.

Over time, God is working in the hearts of His people, the First Nations, and Gentiles to come together and take dominion over the earth. His desire for all of humanity to come together has not changed. We are to come before Him and rejoice in His power and to be in awe of the fact He has imparted it to us.
