Nothing is Too Big for God!
Do you feel like life is overwhelming? Do you wonder how you can make it through the trying times? Then join us below as we discover what the Scripture says about the strength of our God and how YOU too can overcome!
The Narrow Place
Now, more than perhaps for many decades, a large portion of the world is going through trying times. It may not be in the same way as a world war, or a terrorist attack, but the life we knew several months ago will never be the same.
But, we are not without God! We will get through every challenge the enemy throws at us. The key is to focus on God and not our circumstances. To find within ourselves those seeds of trust, faith, hope, and love. Because, God will not let us down when we lean upon Him—no matter if His answer to our desires and prayers is the one we envisioned or not, His answers will always be for our good.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”—Jeremiah 29:11
It is time we choose the narrow place of God so that we can walk in all He has for us. It is time we step out with Holy Spirit boldness and say, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31). Indeed, it is even time that we say, “though He slay me, yet I will trust Him” (Job 13:15).
Yes, the Lord does not desire to slay us, yet, even if He did, is it not better to be slain by the one who holds your soul and loves you, than to be slain by the enemy who only desires your demise?
The narrow place of God is not where we ‘suffer’—unless we walk through it with the wrong mindset—instead the narrow place keeps us safe. It is not always ‘easy,’ but it keeps us directed upon the path of God and in His saving grace; it allows us to follow the will of God, which is perfect in all ways. Further, it even shapes and molds us into who we were created to be—MADE in the image of God!
“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”—Matthew 7:13-14
“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”—James 1:2-8
The Power of God!
Over and over again in God’s Word we are reminded why we should enter through the narrow gate, following His narrow path; indeed, even why we should have trust, faith, hope, and love for our God. Yet, Scripture also reminds us of the power of God, and how, He is the one who brings us victory!
- “And he shall say to them, ‘Hear, O Israel: Today you are on the verge of battle with your enemies. Do not let your heart faint, do not be afraid, and do not tremble or be terrified because of them; for the Lord your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.’”—Deuteronomy 20:3-4
- “‘No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,’ says the Lord.”—Isaiah 54:17
- “…For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we may boldly say: ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?’”—Hebrews 13:5-6
- “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”—Isaiah 26:3
- “But the Lord your God you shall fear; and He will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies.”—2 Kings 17:39
These are just a handful of Scriptures which remind us of the power of God, His steadfast nature, and His very love! They are a firm reminder that no matter how hard the narrow place may seem, no matter the attack of the enemy, God is strong enough to bring about a future for us, but more than that… He will bring hope.
Yes, what we desire for our future and what the Lord chooses for it are not always the same. However, God—the PERFECT God—chooses not only based upon Kingdom good… He chooses based upon our good (see Jeremiah 29:11). The love of God combined with His strength and perfection should be enough for us to gladly lean upon Him. Yes, trials and tribulations WILL come, but with God on our side, we have no reason to fear—for our God in Christ has overcome the world! (See John 16:33.)
Walking in This Truth
It is one thing to know in our minds that God is for us, that He is strong, capable, and loving, but it is another thing for us to know it deep within our soul—mind, will, and emotions. Further, there is no magic formula to take us to that deep place of trust. However, there are things we can do to nurture such knowledge within our souls.
We can meditate on the Word—particularly those which remind us of God’s power, love, perfection, and more.
We can spend time in prayer—coming to know God through intimate encounters.
We can spend time in fellowship with other Believers—be that in person, or, in these times, perhaps online.
We can spend time in Godly teachings—such as with books, listening to sermons, etc.
We can spend time speaking in tongues. Tongues is a spiritual language, but what makes it a uniquely powerful tool is that it does not have to go through our carnal mind, will, or emotions; it speaks the will of God into the atmosphere!
We can give of our time, tasks and resources to help others. By acting as a servant to others like Jesus did, we open our hearts to the truth and beauty of who God is. We grow to be more like Him and open ourselves up to His Spirit!
We can speak of those things in line with God’s will and truth—be this through speaking out the Word of God or talking about God to those around us. By continually having God’s truth upon our lips, it begins to filter down into the deepest parts of our souls!
On and on we can discover unique ways to invite God’s truth into our lives. There is no one single way to develop a deeper relationship with God; for God is beautifully complex. Yet, there is also no single way which will shut out His presence and His love. As long as we make an effort to seek His face, He will meet us where we are. He desires to spend time with us.
