Issues Facing Children in Israel
A recent report released by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Israel has the fourth-highest poverty rate for children out of all developed nations in the world. That rate, 35.6 percent, puts it in contention with Spain, Latvia and Greece (all of which were hit extremely hard by the recession) as having one of the highest poverty rates in the world’s developed nations.
The study also revealed another related problem: Israel has the highest rate of young people between 15 and 24 not currently engaged in any form of education, work or training (30.7 percent), by far the most out of all developed nations.
We’ve spoken before about poverty statistics in Israel and the alarming numbers that the country faces, but when the numbers are so bad for the children as well, it sheds even more of a light on the need to do something to make a difference. And that’s exactly what we’re trying to do with Curt Landry Ministries.
One of our missions is the construction and management of safe houses throughout Israel. These safe houses are specifically meant for the children of Israel, who are forced to live in dire conditions due to the intense levels of poverty they face. Many children in Israel are either abused or neglected, and these safe houses give them a place where they can live, sleep and learn in a safe, positive family environment. These safe houses could help to save lives of children who would otherwise be on the street.
There are opportunities for you to help us in these projects. For a gift of $150 to our safe house mission, you will receive a bottle of the King’s Oil anointing oil and a beautiful tallit handmade in Israel, personally anointed and prayed over by Curt Landry.
We ask that you take some time and consider contributing to this amazing cause. We have been blessed with so much in our lives, and it is an amazing gift to be able to give to those who have so little.
