Honor is a Force

At Curt Landry Ministries we have 10 core values—our 10 Commandments—that stand behind everything we do and who we are as a ministry. At the top of our list of values is honor. We believe in honoring God and all of His people.

We believe in honoring each other, and we believe in honoring you.We believe in honoring each other, and we believe in honoring you.

Honor is a force that has the power to release blessings in your life.

“Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you.”—Deuteronomy 5:16

Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the first fruits of all your increase; So your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.”—Proverbs 3:9-10

Therefore the Lord God of Israel says: ‘I said indeed that your house and the house of your father would walk before Me forever.’ But now the Lord says: ‘Far be it from Me; for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.”—1 Samuel 2:30

In these three scriptures we see that honor is not only a command close to the heart of God, but that it is also a key to the release of:

  • Long life
  • Prosperous inheritance
  • Full barns—provision
  • Overflowing vats—joy and fullness of spirit
  • Honor itself—honor as a seed sown and a seed returned

Romans 12:9-21 is titled Marks of the True Christian. I particularly love the way verses 9 and 10 read in the English Standard Version:How do you sow honor? You put others before yourself.

“Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.”

Outdo one another in showing, demonstrating, living, giving honor.

That is a powerful message! Sowing honor is the mark of a true Christian.

How do you sow honor? You put others before yourself. You take on the role of servant in relationships. You sow time into others. You are compassionate and not driven by ego.

When you sow honor you are completing the mission of Romans 12—you are overcoming evil with good!
