Holy Spirit Series | Renewed and Refreshed
“For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”—Romans 8:6
Living a life renewed and refreshed may appear to be impossible all the time. You may ask: What about those hours of sleep lost when I was up with my infant in the middle of the night? What about the stress from my job? What about the fight I had with my spouse?
“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weaknesses. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercessions for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”—Romans 8:26
Through those times of discord where do you turn? How do you pray? Our relationship with God is sealed eternally when we accept Yeshua’s work on the cross for our sins. Did you know that our daily walk can be renewed and refreshed continually, and that we do not have to wait for our inheritance?
When we are Spirit-led and Spirit-minded we are asking God to come into our lives and be active at all times. The Holy Spirit leads us as we cooperate with Him. He wants to work with us and through us… not driving or demanding us. He guides us to think less about ourselves and more about God’s thoughts.
The Holy Spirit not only teaches us repentance, but testifies to our own souls that we are children of God.
“The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.”—Romans 8:16
When we are weak and tired, it’s an open door for doubt and confusion. This time of calamity can easily bring us to an impasse. In an instant, we are not sure what to do or where to go, much less how to pray!
It is during times like these when we need to remember that the Spirit will intercede for us. You can be sure that the Spirit will know how and what to pray when we do not. In the midst of confusion, God is in control, and He will be glorified! When we grow in the Spirit, trusting God, we can be confident that the Holy Spirit gently prays for us. This should encourage us to pray for the Spirit of God to become an even greater part of our lives!
The Spirit will give you peace in the fact that you are saved and sealed, a citizen of Heaven. He guides your prayers and daily life. We can rest assured that, when we cannot see the other side of the mountain, He does, and will guide us through, bringing us to our destination, all the while glorifying God.
Pray that the Spirit speaks to you in a powerful way, giving you breath and clarity in the midst of your chaos. Ask the Spirit to lead your prayer, giving you His words and mind. Through thanksgiving and petition, in the Spirit, ask God to give you His mind for situations in your life. He will show you what breaks His heart, and how He sees the world. He will provide answers to prayers in a way you could not fathom. Pray that He receives the glory when you walk renewed and refreshed in the Spirit!
