Can God be Trusted?
Can God be trusted? It’s a terrific question, one that we get asked quite a lot at Curt Landry Ministries. People ask us this for many different reasons. But most often we find that the reason we question God’s trustworthy character is due to fear. Who can blame most of us right? God isn’t tangible. He doesn’t stand before us in human form. Therefore it’s sometimes hard to put your trust in someone who cannot be seen.
This is part of what makes studying the Word so important to a Believer. Let me use this metaphor… Let’s say you were preparing to do a major business deal. We’re talking millions upon millions of hard-earned dollars were about to be invested in a group or individual that you wished to partner with. Wouldn’t you want to know that they were who they said they were?
>>>ARE YOU CONFIDENT IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST?<<<
Of course!
How would you get to know that entity better? Well today, you would probably scour the Internet for their website or social media outlet. You would read up on their work. You would look for reviews or testimonials from past business deals. You might even ask other people up front… calling or emailing those who might have been listed as a reference for this organization. You would do your research.
This is also true for us as Believers. We can’t trust God blindly, without ever truly researching His character. Thankfully men and women’s lives that were impacted by the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were written down in one of the most well-read, widely sold book of all time. I’m sure you’ve heard of it… the Bible.
Testimony after testimony tells the story of God’s unfolding plan to redeem all humanity from a curse that came upon them due to a broken covenant—a promise made between God and man which was unbreakable only through pure disobedience.
Still, this story unfolds further only to portray God as a loving heavenly Father who dearly loves His children…
Just as a business owner would seek out to better understand the character of a new partner, we, too, are challenged to read about this God who is called, Wonderful, Counselor, Almighty God, Prince of Peace, Loving Father, Friend…
Sure, you can’t see Him, but the opportunity to get to know His character is easily sought out, that is if you really wish to know the answer.
Don’t believe us? Let’s take a look at a couple of areas where people struggle to trust God, and see if we can’t convince you to at least dust off the cover of your Bible and read about Him for yourself.
>>>ARE YOU STRUGGLING WITH INSECURITY?<<<
Can God Lie?
So often people struggle to trust God because of human relationships that had failed them. It’s hard to trust an unseen heavenly Father if your earthly father was not a good example.
When the people in our lives who were meant to stand as protectors or providers fail us, we easily equate this to how God will treat us as well. Deep wounds come from broken promises, abuse, or abandonment, and it can be very difficult to trust another human being, let alone a God who had seemed to stand by unaware during those situations.
You see, God did care about those circumstances more than you know. But He also knew that by micromanaging all of humankind’s behavior they would never be able to make choices for themselves.
Many who may have hurt you, unfortunately, had chosen the darkness, but God has given you an opportunity today to choose His light instead of the darkness.
God is not like the men or women who have lied to you. It states in Numbers 23:19 that, “God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”
The bottom line is that God can not and will not lie to you. He is literally incapable of lying.

You Actually Can See God?
How?
Well… when you read the Word of God you will learn about His people, the Israelites. Over the course of human history God made a promise to this people, and despite some failures on their part to stay committed, God never wavered in His promise to remain faithful to them.
Thousands of other people groups from the time of the Israelites have disappeared into a sea of cultural shifts and changes. BUT the nation of Israel still stands. God can be seen in His promises from this ancient text, the Bible, to the modern-day Jewish nation. Isn’t that incredible?
Still, Don’t Believe it?
Look here where God makes a promise to the first Hebrew, Abraham…
“And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed.”—Genesis 26:4
Have you ever wondered why the Jewish people are one of the wealthiest populations in the world, and some of the largest contributors to medicine, technology and other worthy causes?
The answer is clear, God did not lie to them, to their ancestors, and He cannot lie to YOU.
HE IS TRUSTWORTHY! He will do what He has promised. It may take time, but He will be found faithful, you can count on it.
