Declaring the Covenant in the Courts of Heaven

If you’ve heard of the Courts of Heaven, you know that it’s a real place in the spirit realm—a place to come before God and cut off the accusations of the enemy and experience breakthrough in your life.

When you approach God as a righteous Judge, it opens the dimension of the Courts of Heaven. Did you know that God invites us to approach Him and to decree and declare who we are in Christ?

Why should we pray in the Courts of Heaven if God already knows our needs?

The bottom line is that God wants us to desire Him and seek Him above all else. Take the relationship between a parent-child for example.

When the child humbly and boldly approaches the parent and asks for assistance, mom or dad gladly comes to their aid because there is something supernatural that takes place when they join together to accomplish a task.

God’s heart is the same for us—that we work with Him to accomplish His purpose

God wants us to pray and state our case in the Courts of Heaven because He is looking for a reason to be merciful. And He wants us to find His mercy in the blood of Jesus.

The Splendor of God’s Throne

Imagine the glory and splendor of God’s throne described by John in the book of Revelation. Take a moment to soak in the beautiful sight…

“Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald

Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads.

“And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

“Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal… The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying:

‘Holy, holy, holy,
Lord God Almighty,
Who was and is and is to come!’

“Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:

‘You are worthy, O Lord,
To receive glory and honor and power;
For You created all things,
And by Your will they exist and were created.’”

Revelation 4:2-6, 8-11 [Emphasis added]

This is the throne of your King! And you can boldly approach Him!

Not only does Satan accuse us of personal sin and even the sin of our ancestors, but he also uses another strategy against us. He discourages us from coming into the Courts of Heaven.

Satan wants us to consider that God’s throne unapproachable. If we don’t approach our Righteous Judge, then we can never come out of alignment with Satan’s lies and into alignment with God’s truth.

The enemy knows his time is running out to make accusations. The Lord is powerful and is coming to cast Satan in the lake of fire for all eternity.

Understanding the Covenant to boldly come into the Courts of Heaven…

The High Priest’s role in the covenant

Many Believers today picture a High Priest as someone who stands up before the assembly to preach and teach. But this image sells the High Priest’s role short.

High Priest’s role in the Old Testament:

  • Was inherited
  • Was to be without blemish
  • Supreme leadership of all other priests
  • The only one who could wear stones to determine truth or falsity
  • Tell Israel God’s will
  • Offer sin offerings for the whole congregation
  • Entered the Most Holy Place and stood before God on Day of Atonement to bring the blood sacrifice

The Bible says that Christ is our High Priest (see Hebrews 5), and that He made us kings and priests (see Revelation 1:6).

“Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”—Hebrews 4:14-17

Understanding the Hebraic roots of Christianity allows Believers today to comprehend the importance of the Courts of Heaven and how to approach God so that His will be done.

A covenant is established between you and God. Declaring who you are in that covenant relationship, in the Courts of Heaven, begins the process of a breakthrough.

His covenant reveals His power, authority, and blessings. In the covenant relationship, you surrender all in exchange for Him.

In turn, He gives you access to His Kingdom supply. Anything that you need is now available… if we would only ask. The power of the covenant impacts our health, finances, and lifestyle.

Because of this covenant, you are able to enter in the Courts of Heaven and stand on your new identity in Christ. The enemy has nothing on you because your High Priest that has already entered in on your behalf. It is now your privilege and responsibly to declare this truth to your Righteous Judge.
